Tears of the Sun was a Bruce Willis movie about Navy SEALs killing people to stop a genocide in Africa. Real feel-good stuff. The score is majestically epic as you can witness in Kopano part II by Hans Zimmer.

The Patriot sort of fell short in terms of historical masterpiece but movies about the American Revolution are few and far between so I liked it. The Main Theme by John Williams is totally charming.

Arcangelo Corelli was the Hans Zimmer of his time. Actually, I’m making this up, I have no idea who he is. All I know is that I fell in love with the Adagio From Concerto Grosso Op 6, No 8 In G Minor, a.k.a. the Christmas Concerto, when I first heard it in Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World.

  1. I think I should go hire out Tears of the Sun. Sounds like a good movie.

    • I really like Tears of the Sun, just don’t expect a masterpiece. There’s a really great sequence where they take care of some killers/rapists that is both hard to watch and fist-pumping satisfying.

Then again, it also stars Monica Bellucci so it’s worth the price of the rental 🙂 Try to get the director’s cut if you can…
